Two Islanders Win Photo Contest and Free Camping – with Nanaimo Water Scenes

Mosaic Forest Management is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 Mosaic Campsite Photo Contest.

Barb Hooper, of Qualicum Beach, and Rick Fleming, of Gabriola Island, have each won a total of two weeks of camping at one or all of Mosaic’s 12 campgrounds tucked away at stunning destinations on beautiful Vancouver Island, B.C. Winners may take the two weeks at one time or spread the time across many months of shorter camping trips.

This year, there were more than 130 photo submissions capturing the unforgettable moments that make for lifelong memories of wild, wonderful, woods, water and wellness moments on great family camping vacations and recreational pursuits across B.C.

Mosaic’s staff who judge the contest each year, had their work cut out, narrowing down the winning entries first to six and then to two.

The Mosaic Campsite Contest kicked off on May 17 during this year’s May long weekend to celebrate the opening of Mosaic’s 12th campsite, Macktush Campground, located 40 minutes from Port Alberni, and wrapped up on August 7, 2019.

“We want to thank every entrant for sharing their amazing photos with us. They all captured unforgettable moments of beautiful places, family, and pets in the great outdoors,” said Domenico Iannidinardo, Mosaic’s VP Forest and Sustainability & Chief Forester. “We are also proud to be able to be a small part of the bounty of recreational opportunities offered on Vancouver Island. Our 12 campsites offer outdoor enthusiasts opportunities to hike, paddle, swim, fish, windsurf, hang-out, relax, recharge, and more. We look forward to hosting the winners as they explore our campsites,” he said.

Rick is excited to get out again to a Mosaic site and use his prize, and Barb was thrilled to receive news of her win. "Since entering your contest, I've been on your website a lot and I am really excited about the opportunity to visit your different campsites. My next year’s entry will be from one of them," said Barb.

Winners receive a 14-day camping passport that is good to use at any of the Mosaic campsites, which receive more than 10,000 camping guests between April to mid-October each year.
