New Video Highlights Partnership in Drinking Watershed Management

Mosaic Forest Management, the Regional District of Nanaimo and the City of Nanaimo work together in partnership in the drinking watershed that provides clean, reliable and safe drinking water to the region.

A new video released today provides an overview of that partnership, and information to residents on the source of their water and how that valuable resource is safeguarded.

Nanaimo’s watershed encompasses roughly 23,000 hectares and is largely located within the Regional District of Nanaimo on private forest lands managed by Mosaic Forest Management. The City of Nanaimo owns the footprint of its two dams, the reservoirs, as well as the other associated water infrastructure. Together in partnership, Mosaic, the City and the Regional District share information, develop plans and monitor the quality of water in the drainage, with shared objectives of sustaining Nanaimo’s clean, safe water supply.

“Water is a critically important resource in which we all have a role to play.  Mosaic has a dedicated team of professional hydrologists, engineers and planners who work closely with regional authorities to ensure the integrity of our community drinking watersheds,” said Jeff Zweig, President and CEO of Mosaic.
