Mosaic Reminds Recreationalists About Responsible Off-Road Driving
Nanaimo, BC — Mosaic is reminding the public of the importance of safe driving habits while on Mosaic private forest lands on Vancouver Island. Unsafe driving becomes even more risky at this time of year when lower light and weather conditions can play a factor in reducing visibility.
Recreationalists are reminded of Mosaic’s safe driving rules of the road:
Turn headlights on
Obey all posted signs, directions and speed limits
Drive only on designated roads
Yield to logging trucks and other industrial traffic
Note that the RCMP conducts patrols at Mosaic’s request to help manage public safety. Patrols can happen any time, looking for unsafe driving, illegal dumping, vandalism, and trespassing in active logging zones.
“The large majority of people recreating on Mosaic private forests are highly respectful,” said Mosaic Vice President and Chief Forester, Domenico Iannidinardo. “It is important that everyone act responsibly to keep recreational visitors and operational staff safe while protecting the working forest.”
A focus on safe driving is one of the key commitments that members of the Comox Valley ATV Club make in exchange for access opportunities to Mosaic private forest lands through a Recreational Access Agreement.
“Our Club members enjoy the recreational opportunities offered on Mosaic private forest lands in the Comox Valley, and know their focus on safety is critical to maintaining that opportunity,” said Rod Armstrong, Vice President of the Comox Valley ATV Club.
Mosaic offers recreational access to its private forest lands on weekends in designated areas. Details are available online at www.mosaicforests.com/access. For more information about the Comox Valley ATV Club, visit www.comoxvalleyatvclub.ca.
