Winning Photo Contest Entries Showcase BC’s Wild West Coast, Earn Free Camping

Nanaimo, BC – Naomi Pope, Sheila Fiscus, and Carmen Crevier have each won a total of two weeks of camping at any combination of Mosaic’s 12 campgrounds with their winning entries in Mosaic Forest Management’s 4th annual photo contest.

Mosaic’s panel of judges reviewed a record 445 contest photo submissions that captured special family moments and epic adventures on BC’s Coast over the summer.

Naomi Pope’s winning image “Magical Macktush” captured the beauty of summer camping against an evening sky, and tells a warm story about family life on Vancouver Island. “Our family absolutely fell in love with Macktush Campground,” said Pope. “We could not believe our eyes as we arrived at the tranquil oceanside site and set up camp amongst the tall trees as the sun began to set. We can't wait to book for next year to make more memories!”

New for this year was a People’s Choice award, where social media users cast votes for their favourite – with Carmen Crevier’s image of her grandchildren at 1st Lake, Windy Point coming out on top. “We are so excited to be chosen as the winners of the contest. Our grand babies are truly filled with love for each other and we were lucky enough to capture it at our favourite place” said Crevier. “Our love of the lakes is so great, and this prize will be truly appreciated.”

“We had so many excellent submissions this year and we want to thank every entrant for sharing their amazing photos with us,” said Domenico Iannidinardo, Mosaic’s Vice President of Forest & Logistics and Chief Forester. “The photo contest has brought unique perspectives on what makes Mosaic forest lands, and indeed all of the West Coast, so special. We look forward to hosting the winners as they explore our campsites next season.”.

Mosaic operates 12 not-for-profit campsites across their managed private forests lands on Vancouver Island, which welcome visitors from May to October each year. Swimming, fishing, paddling and stunning views were just some of the unique summer memories captured in the 2020 Mosaic Campsite Photo Contest.
