Mosaic Honours Forestry Contractors for Safety Excellence and Workplace Achievements
Mosaic Forest Management proudly recognized forestry contractors for their exceptional achievements in health and safety, environmental performance, Indigenous relations, diversity, equity, and inclusion and quality over the past year.
The awards were presented last week at Mosaic’s annual Safety Conference in Nanaimo. A blessing from Snuneymuxw First Nation elder Lolly Good opened the event and featured keynote speaker Steve Howe, who shared his inspirational personal experience of survival as a result of a workplace injury.
“I’m proud to celebrate and thank all the recipients for their leadership and commitment to safety in the workplace and for their outstanding contributions,” said Duncan Davies, President and CEO at Mosaic Forest Management. “These awards give us a chance to recognize the efforts these companies make daily to protect their workers. Join me in congratulating these forestry contractor companies for their leadership in this industry.”
At Mosaic, safety and wellness are the company’s top priority. Underpinning Mosaic’s safety culture is its Stop, Think, Act program, which leverages authentic leadership and storytelling to encourage improved safety attitudes, behaviours and practices.
In 2023 Mosaic reduced the medical incident rate per 200,000 exposure hours to 1.16 on 2.5 million hours worked, representing a 14% reduction and exceeding Mosaic’s original target of 5%.
