MOSAIC FOREST MANAGEMENT’S SEMI-ANNUAL NEWS UPDATE

Jeffery Zweig – President and CEO

Jeffery Zweig – President and CEO

I’m pleased to share Mosaic’s semi-annual news update, which provides an overview of our business activities and community initiatives over the second half of 2020.

This has been a challenging year to say the least. I want to sincerely thank the 2,000 staff and contractor employees who remained strong and resilient despite the monumental headwinds. Together, our commitment to the long-term economic, social and environmental sustainability of the forests we manage and the communities we support never wavered.

Over the past year, we continued to grow our community presence and advance new partnerships and community connections. We made significant strides in providing public access and safe recreation opportunities for our neighbours when public parks and facilities were closed. We ramped our operations back up safely following the extended curtailment, and achieved new safety performance milestones, including 500 incident-free days at our Northwest Bay operation. We leveled up our Progressive Aboriginal Relations certification to Silver highlighting our ongoing commitment to building lasting, mutually beneficial relations with Indigenous communities across the Coast.

With the winter break quickly approaching, I want to extend our best wishes to all our partners for a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for your support to our company over the past year, and we look forward to continuing to work together in 2021 to advance our shared goals and contribute to strong communities on BC’s Coast.

PUBLIC ACCESS PROGRAM CONTINUES TO GROW
Facilitating safe access for the public to our private managed forest lands is one way we contribute to our adjacent communities. Our neighbours value access to nature, and that has never been more important than this year, when many parks and recreational areas closed. Our team worked hard to provide safe access opportunities, including camping at our 12 not-for-profit sites once health orders permitted. We hosted over 20,000 camper nights this year. You can find out more about access to Mosaic lands on our access portal.
